Holidays and families
A family base by the sea
Room to spread out, your own kitchen, and the beach and harbour close by.
Which apartment suits a family?
Our two-bedroom apartments suit most families. Apartments 6 and 7 have two bathrooms and a home cinema set-up in the living room: a projector, a proper projector screen and a TCL soundbar, already wired together, with Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITVX and YouTube built in. Nothing to plug in and no casting. Each sleeps six: four in the two bedrooms and two on the sofa bed in the living room. Apartment 7 also has a balcony off the living room.
Every apartment reaches its maximum with a sofa bed in the living room, and we show the bathroom count on every apartment, so a group of six can see at a glance which apartments have two bathrooms.
A smaller family or a couple with one child may be just as comfortable in a one-bedroom apartment. Every apartment shows its bedrooms, bathrooms and sleeping arrangements so you can compare like for like.
Two families travelling together?
Search for your whole group and we’ll show one large apartment next to two one-bed apartments, so you can choose between sharing and having your own front doors.
Things to do with children
- Rockpools and shingle beaches, with beach huts along Tankerton Slopes
- The working harbour, with its fish market and Harbour Market huts
- The Crab and Winkle Way, about 7.5 miles to Canterbury and mostly traffic-free
- The Whitstable Rocks Oyster Festival in September, with free family activities
Parking and arriving
Free parking behind the building, subject to availability: usually one space per apartment. It isn’t guaranteed, and bays marked Resident Parking belong to permanent residents and must not be used.
Vans: smaller work vans are fine. Larger vans are not: no Luton bodies, no long wheelbase and nothing tall. If you’re arriving in anything bigger than an ordinary transit-sized van, please ask us first.
Other options: on-street parking where permitted on Canterbury Road, Grimshill Road, Cromwell Road and St John’s Road (check the restrictions before leaving the car), or the paid car parks at Whitstable Station, Victoria Street and Gorrell Tank.
There is no lift, and each apartment is reached by stairs. The details are on each apartment’s page.
TODO Confirm cots, high chairs and stair gates before we mention them.
